When O'Brien started testing bamboo as an alternative to traditional hardwood for the skate decks - they thought we were just doing our part to help out the planet. What we didn't expect is that our riders actually preferred the feel of the bamboo over a traditional wood deck. They loved the snap on ollies, and the durability on obstacles is better than any other wood board in the industry. One of bamboo’s greatest benefits is the rate at which it renews itself. The three-to five year harvest cycle makes bamboo a rapidly renewable material, which is generally defined as having a harvest rotation of 10 years.
