The Boarding Company Limited has premises in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. Our Absolute-Skate and Absolute-Rock retail shops are both based at XC – Europe’s biggest indoor extreme sports centre in Jarman Park, Hemel Hempstead, Herts. Our Absolute-Snow winter sports shop, head office and warehouse are also in Hemel Hempstead. Our watersports warehouse is in Chipping Norton.
In addition to 3 retail outlets, The Boarding Company Limited operates a family of Absolute-Sports.co.uk websites. We are market leaders in the on-line retailing of action and board sport related hard and soft goods. We are a fast growing company with plans in place for significant expansion in the future. Despite rapid growth, we still retain a small team-based culture and the majority of employees will be expected to ‘muck in’ and help out on a very wide variety of tasks, on an as needed basis. For some roles, Saturday working will be required during the winter season and paid overtime is also likely to be required during this busy time of year. Graduate Trainee - Full Time - Head Office, Hemel Hempstead
We have a vacancy for a graduate seeking their first or second employment opportunity. As a graduate trainee, the role will be varied giving you the opportunity to see which areas of the business best match your capabilities. You will assist our marketing, product and buying managers with market research, market analysis, product uploading to our website, social media marketing, website optimisation, advertising and marketing promotions. During busy periods, you will be required to help the warehouse team with the pick and pack operations. You will also have face to face customer exposure in our retail outlets and by assisting our customer services team with customer enquiries and orders. You will also have the opportunity to get involved with various administrative aspects of the business as well.
Candidates should only apply if:
- You have or expect to be awarded an honours degree, with grade 2.2 or higher
- You actively participate in one or more of the sporting activities associated with the company
- You are highly computer literate
- You are passionate and enthusiastic
Preference will be given to candidates who have a working knowledge of html, basic Adobe PhotoShop skills, and excellent Excel spreadsheet skills.
Overtime and Saturday working are likely to be required during busy periods.

Work Experience Interns - Temporary - Summer 2012 plus academic holidays - Head Office, Hemel Hempstead
Paid positions with wide ranging and varied duties and responsibilities covering all aspects of our exciting dynamic and fast-growing business, including some duties covered by both the Graduate Trainee and Warehouse/Shop Assistant roles. We are looking for university students or school leavers about to attend university. All applicants must have an interest and knowledge of at least one of the sports we cover, but the more the better!
