Ladies sizes are one size smaller than the male equivalent so, a womans's size large ski glove is equivalent to a man's medium. Most gloves or mitts are fairly unisex.
Ski or snowboard gloves, offer slightly greater freedom of movement and dexterity than mittens but, to be honest, the advantage is minimal since you still really need to take your gloves off to do most things, like wiping your goggles, blowing your nose, tying your laces, etc.
Mitts require a less precise fit. Mitts are 50% warmer. Mitts more easily take liner gloves to keep you extra warm. If using disposable hand warmers - mitts are a much better idea.
These are also known as 'lobster' gloves. They are a mash-up between gloves and mitts. You have some dexterity with you fore finger free, and the warmth of a mitt for the rest of your hand!
Wear inside your regular gloves or mitts for an extra layer of warmth. Like double glazing for your hands.
Also good for wearing out and about in the town.
Some gloves and mitts come with built in wrist guards so that you have good protection when you fall onto your hands, particulary important when learning to snowboard. These are usually removeable.
Some gloves will have a removable liner or a set of liner gloves. These add extra warmthe and can often be worn on their own around town and then inside the gloves for when it's freezing! Also great for easy washing so that you avoid the 'glove hand' smell!
These gloves have special materials on the tips of certain fingers and thumbs to allow you to use your touch screen phone or other devices without taking your gloves off!
Glove retainers or 'idiot cords' as they're sometimes known are essential if you want to keep hold of your gloves! They attach around your wrist and inside the glove to stop you dropping them off the chair lift when you want to take your gloves off!
These are the gloves most people go for. A taditional Ski or Snowboard glove that has good insulation, waterproofing and as much dexterity as possible. Here you will find the warmest gloves we have!
These gloves are perfect for nailing that grab in the park as they are low profile and allow a great range of movement. They don't have a lot of insulation so are ideal for warmer days and when you're sweating in the park or the snow domes!
These are ideal for those going away either early or late in the season when the weather is a bit warmer. They have a bit less insulation than a standard glove which allows for greater movement and won't leave your hands in a sweaty mess!
These gloves are perfect for when you are walking around resort and don't need your big technical ski or snowboard gloves. These are also perfect for use back home when the winter hits! (or even the summer in the UK!)
These are gloves designed for racing, and in particular ski racing. Some have features such as carbon reinforced knuckles, specific race grips and precurved fingers. They are hmade of high tech materials and are lightweight.
Cuff
This is the cuff or gauntlet of the glove or mitt. It can either sit over your jacket cuff, giving greater water and snow protection, or under it giving a lower profile look.
These cuffs or 'gauntlets' sit over the cuff of your ski or snowboard jacket. This gives great protection from the cold and wet, allowing nothing to get inside!
These gloves have cuffs that go under you ski or snowboard jackets cuffs. This gives you a nice low profile look and if your jacket has adjustable cuffs, a nice tight seal from the cold and snow!
These gloves and mitts are full leather on their outside. This means they are super supple and comfortable, as well as being durable and great looking!
These are made partially with leather on the outside. Leather is used in areas where suppleness but durability is reuqired such as the palms and joint areas. Other materials are used on the rest of the glove to keep costs down.
Materials used other than leather. Synthetic matiels can have very similar properties to leather, and greater benefits in certain situations. They often provide greater waterproof rating and durability at a lower price.
