About the DMM Renegade
If you are looking for a harness to fill any eventual climbing discipline, the DMM's Renegade 2 is a serious contender. It is DMM's third iteration of their premium adjustable leg harness which has been optimised to work with both summer and winter racks. In doing so, the Renegade is perfect for just about anything from indoor gym climbing to cragging, winter climbing, and big alpine routes.
Comfort and practicality are key in the Renegade 2, it features a floating waist belt which ensures that the harness is centred correctly at all times. The waist belt is constructed from high-quality closed-cell foam combined with a firm spreader plate. This gives excellent comfort and support while the carefully sculpted shape allows freedom of movement, no matter how gymnastic things get. The waist belt is easily adjusted and tightened with the help of Slide Lock buckles that can accommodate a large range of layering if necessary. The same ease can be found in the leg loops which are also adjustable and padded to just the right amount in all the right places.
You will find 7 gear loops on the Renegade 2, three on each side and one on the back - they have been repositioned from previous models to improve how evenly your gear will hang and reduce clutter.
While ease of use, organisation, and comfort have been discussed and are easy to visually spot in the photo, some additional smaller details add to its premium construction - Cordura face fabric has been used on the waistbelt and legs to ensure extra durability. Tie-in points are reinforced by an even tougher abrasion-resistant webbing and the belay loop is slightly smaller than previous versions to allow for smaller belay plates but it is still rated at 25kN.
For winter climbers, the Hypalon ice clipper attachment points have been modified to enable the use of two clipper points without interfering with the standard gear loops, the harness can hold up to four ice clippers.
The Renegade 2 is a really well-thought-out harness that any climber should be happy to hang around in.
