The reasonable priced alternative that still offers full functionality is what the 240 Economic is all about. If the depth of burial is about 1m on average, the probe 240 has a sufficient length to reach the victim so you can start digging. The cord inside the probe is made from KEVLAR® which makes for an indestructible deployment system and the "conic" tubes and screw fasteners allow a fast assemblage of the probe. The larger head of the avalanche probe drills a bore channel being larger than the diameter of the probe so that the probe can be pulled out easily and doesn't freeze. The 240 Economic probe comes highly recommended for anyone out there who is new to avalanche safety and wants a probe that will do the job without breaking the bank.

All functions perfectly, nice and lightweight. The locking mechanism is as simple as they come, just pull a knot over a groove. Much more reliable than Mammut probes that I have used (which have a fiddly little button that seems to jam sometimes).
