1.5 billion tires are either burnt, thrown in rivers, or dumped illegally every year. Indosole buy these waste tires of local garages in Indonesia and craft them into a fantastic pair of shoes.
Indosole was founded in 2004 when Kyle Parsons, an avid surfer and skater from San Francisco, traveled to Bali and purchased a pair of sandals made from used motorcycle tires. Inspired by this, Kyle made his way back to Bali with the aim to give back to the country that he was so captivated with, by aiding in alleviating Indonesia's massive pollution problem. Indosole has been recognized as a Certified B Corporation, a title in recognition of Indosole's high social and environmental ethics and its use of business as a means for good. Not just the soles are made from recycled materials, the uppers are made from grasses, banana leaves and organic canvas which means up to 80% of the shoe is recycled.
