VSSL Camp was invented by Todd Weimer, and founded on the concept of traveling fast and light with the smallest most practical kits to carry essential outdoor gear.

Inspired by his childhood experiences growing up in the wilderness of Northern Canada, Todd wanted to help others be better prepared for outdoor adventure. Holding a Maglite one day, Todd realized that the handle of a traditional flashlight could be used as the perfect 'vessel' in which to store and carry outdoor essentials.

Since then, Todd and the VSSL team haven’t stopped packing critical outdoor gear into a range of VSSLs.  But not just any gear. VSSL is committed to finding the right mix of high-quality, functional gear that you’d want on you anytime you head off the beaten path.  The best part is how that curated set of outdoor gear is perfectly organised into a durable and compact unit known as VSSL.

VSSL doesn’t just make quality outdoor gear, they also care about making an impact on their community. That’s why, since they first started, they’ve partnered with Communitas; a not-for-profit that serves young people with special needs. It's often hard for these young folks to find good employment that is sustainable, so they decided to help make a change.

After all the parts of a VSSL arrive at our warehouse in Abbotsford B.C., they are carefully assembled by some of the exceptional young people that are a part of the Communitas program. VSSL love having them as a part of the VSSL family and are extremely proud of their work; maintaining a defective rate of less than 1% in the entire 4-year history of the brand.
