Wakeboard Use / Discipline
Here you can choose the right board, if you ride cable park or Boat or even PWC
- Cable Specific31
These boards have a special base for use on Kickers and Sliders - it is super tough to protect your board. Rocker shapes tend to be more continuous or a variation on a continuous Rocker style, Flex or Hybrid construction boards are very popular and are great for use on Sliders and kickers, Some of these boards will be cross over and can be great for Boat use as well
- Boat Specific48
Wakeboard Boats have a strong Wake and have a tower or Pole system to give a good high level pull, this is great for gaining more height. These boards tend to have more of a 3Stage rocker shape to give the board more boost off the wake, the more advanced the boat; ie a better steeper wake the more kinked or aggressive the 3 stage should be,
- Crossover Boat and Cable38
These Boards are ideal if you ride both Cable Park and Boat, or you want a board to do pretty much anything. The shapes tend to be more boat biased but some of these are great cable boards that have molded shape that work well on boat wakes, These have have a special base that you can use on obstacles and sliders.
- PWC / Jet Ski27
PWC's have smaller wakes and can be for towing on to sliders or obstacles as well, These boards have more continuous rocker shapes as this gives a more predictable ride for more carving. Hybrid and Flex boards also work well in this situation and will give more variety or choice of surface tricks.
You should choose the correct size board depending on your weight not height, check out our advice centre for correct size charts, It is not an exact science - it's down to personal preference
- up to 130cm15
These boards are good for rider weight up to 130lbs 59kgs
These boards are good for riders up to 180lbs / 80Kgs
These boards are good for riders up to 210lbs / 95kgs
These boards are good for riders 220lbs / 100kgs and above
If you are a beginner the board will be easier and more predictable, for more advanced boards the performance levels will be higher but the board may be more difficult to get to grips with - sharper rails may catch an edge easier but will cut into the wake better and rocker shape to help the board get more pop off the wake
These boards are easy to ride and are very predictable - will give you great fun and let you progress easily, if you do not ride very often then these are ideal for you
These boards will give you a great ride but should not be too hard to get on with - if you are starting to do 180's or Jump the wake this is the area for you
High Performance board built for maximum performance - if you are good you will get a lot out of these boards - however they can be tricky to ride if you are just progressing, these tend to have harder edges which help the performance but can be trippy.
- Slider safe50
These boards have a special Grind Base or Impact Base also known as Enduro Base or Sintered base depending on the Brand. These boards are more suitable for use on sliders and ramps, the base is very tough. and will not scratch and mark in the same way as a standard board. The material is similar to the base of a snowboard so has less friction than a normal base so slides better. Warranty limitations still apply if you ride on sliders!

Gender / Kids
Wakeboards cross over for men and ladies - it is the graphics that make the difference, some boards even share the same shape. However a few of the very high end boards have a specific softer flex for women
These boards are great for Men and Women, as long as the board is the correct size for you then ladies can ride these, lots of boards share the same shape and details for women and men specific boards
These are Womens specific boards - this is down to the graphics but hey if you like these then anyone can ride them
- Previous Season8
These are boards from previous seasons and also boards that are evergreen - these products run through a couple of seasons without significant change.
This is the distance between the insert holes - some new style boards use a narrower position with less holes - older bindings may still fit but the full range of options may be limited. traditional boards have a wider distance between the matching set of insert holes
Some board have moved to M6 Bolts these are not compatible with Imperial as the threads are finer but do work better
Metric 6mm threaded bolts are used for the inserts - these offer better hold as they have more turns to locate the bindings - do not use imperial Bolts with these boards - make sure the bolts that are in your Bindings are M6
These inserts are the traditional screw thread system, not compatible with the newer M6 Bolts - Use Imperial Bolts with these boards
- 6" Spacing30
These boards have 6" between the insert holes so your bindings should fit, some older bindings have 8" spaces so they fit on a wider set of inserts. You may not be able to get the extreme outer or inner stance position
- 8" Spacing1
These boards have 8" between the insert holes so you bindinsg should fit on some newer bindings have 6" spaces so they fit on the in-between inserts but you may not be able to get the extreme outer or inner stance position
The Rocker is the shape of the underside of the board from end to end, the amount of bend or curve and the shape of this curve determines how a board works and feels when you ride, You can select your board by the Rocker shape to give you the best ride for your style, ability where you ride, and what you ride behind - Boat Cable or PWC.
These boards have a very even or regular curve shape from end to end, these give a very predictable ride and are suited to either recreational riders, and also for boats with smaller wakes. Continuous Rocker shapes are ideal for use at Cable parks where the shape of the board gives the correct riding sensation and more predictable turns
- 3 Stage54
This board shape is more kinked with a bigger flat spot under the feet, these boards are more suited to wake shapes that are more abrupt or steeper, the board will get more vertical lift from the wake and will have a higher and more aggressive pop and not plough into the wake, these board tend to be slightly more tricky to ride as they are not so predictable, Some of these have a more extreme 3 stage or kinked shape so exaggerate the sensation even more.
A mixture between 3 stage and Continuous rocker shapes, the centre line from front to back may be 3 stage with the edge or sides more continuos shape giving the best of both styles, Many boards will have this feature but we try to list them in a suitable group
- Flex Boards4
These Flex Style boards have a certain amount of flex built in so that the rocker shape changes when the board is loaded up in the turns of by the weight and position of the rider. These boards may be built using snowboard or kite board technology and are great for use at cable parks for pressing on rails or to give a super smooth ride. These boards are also superb for playing behind a boat doing surface tricks and spins rather than looking for massive pop from the wake
Wakeboards are manufactured using a range of construction methods, this determines the type of use they will be best at but most boards can be used in most locations
- Slider Base45
Slider base boards come under a range of different Brand Names, Liquid Force call these Impact base, For O'Brien it is Grind Base, Ronix use the term Sintered Base, Hyperlite are Enduro Base. This is a reinforced base that is a material similar to the base of a snowboard or Snow ski, They slide better and wear better but do not make the board indestructable. Please note that most brands do not warranty a board for use on sliders, once it has been slid warranty is invalidated for impact related damage.
- Rim Molded1
These boards are a simple construction method to make affordable boards that have a little less detail in the bottom shape. The profiles can be thinner to give a little flex at the tip and tail. Ideal as recreational or family products as you get a lot of board for your budget. These boards usually feature bolt on fins either Quad or Twin systems
- Compression Molded19
Traditional Wakeboard construction with top and bottom units precision molded then joined to give a lightweight product with lots of detail for bottom shape and deck profiles. These boards ride really well for boat use and also park use. These have a stiffer profile with out the flex factors of the Hybrid construction boards. Look out for ltd edition boards with Impact or Grind bases for better sliding and more robust use
- Full Wood core4
Full wood core boards can either be similar to a Hybrid construction board with Built in Flex or have full CNC machining for a very detailed bottom shape, These boards are usually super tough with detailed flex factors - some of these are designed for Cable parks and slider use others are boat based shapes
- Hybrid / Flex16
High performance hull shapes based on a sandwich construction with Wood stringers combined with Foam core tech giving fantastic reliability with built-in Flex, these boards are at home at the cable park where they ride on sliders and obstacles gaining extra protection from Impact or slider bases. Look for other factors such a Liquid Rails and HCombination hybrid core provides the springiest, lightest flex in a core. Wood gives superior strength and flex. PVC keeps it as light as possible
