About the Black Diamond Evac 9
The Evac 7 is a multi-function tool for comprehensive backcountry use whether you're digging in an emergency, conducting fieldwork or building a backcountry kicker.
The Evac is Black Diamond's top of the range shovel and comes with a two-function design. In normal shoveling mode the blade is angled for both cutting and scooping allowing for efficient snow moving. To convert the shovel into hoe mode you simply detach the handle and rotate it 180 degrees. This then sets the blade up at 90 degrees to the shaft allowing you to move snow fast in an emergency. This works particularly well when working in a team. The handle is also extendible allowing you to get the best leverage needed in different situations.
The Evac 7 also has a compact D-Grip handle which has a dual-density grip for comfortable and efficient snow moving. The Evac 7 is also compatible with the Black Diamond Winter Saw accessory which is available separately.
