About the Black Diamond Snaggletooth Mountaineering
The Snaggletooth Pro Crampon from Black Diamond combines the precision of a monopoint crampon with the stability and versatility of horizontal frontpoints to deliver the perfect tool for tackling technical alpine routes.
Tool-free adjustment makes the Snaggletooth quick and convenient to fit, with heel and toe bales working with B3 mountain boots featuring a heel and toe welt. A low-profile micro-adjust heel bale offers a precision fit for added security.
The Snaggletooth’s stainless steel construction features a strong yet lightweight design with rocker in the front rail to accommodate modern mountain boots. Underfoot, 14 steel points provide technical precision over mixed pitches and big alpine routes with enough stability for long approaches and snowy summit ridges. A smaller secondary frontpoint provides additional stability and bite on steep ice pitches and low-angle neve. Anti-ball plates feature as standard to prevent the build-up of wet snow and ice underfoot which can otherwise render the crampon's grip ineffective and lead to slips and falls.
The low weight makes them great for the fast-moving alpinist negotiating challenging ascents on back-country ski tours or mountaineering expeditions. Though for use on ski boots, you will want to order wide toe bails (sold separately). The two parts are designed to fit together - points inward - to be stowed safely when not in use.
