Considered to be the original approach shoe, the Flyers Mid continues the lineage of the range as a mid-top shoe designed for low grade climbs and the hike to the wall.
1.8mm premium split leather makes the upper exceptionally durable. Boreal has opted not to include a waterproof membrane to maximise the natural breathability and warmth of the fabric. As a result not only are your feet protected but they are also kept ventilated and warm.
The Flyers feature Boreal's Vibram Appeal rubber sole which provides traction and stability on rock tips. For improved grip on wet or slabby terrain, the sole unit is coated in a Megaprip approach formula. The compound improves the friction of the unit, for added security on scrambles.
To complement the outsole, the midsole of the shoe is constructed from Boreal PXF with shock-absorbing EVA. The injected EVA heel allows for improved comfort whilst walking, whilst the padded heel fit system holds the back of your foot in place, preventing friction and blisters. A thick rubber rand runs up from the sole to encompass both the toe and heel, improving the protection of the upper and promoting durability.
For improved wicking, the shoes have a PU Airnet lining. This not only improves the ventilation of the shoe but adds a degree of padding for comfort.
The Boreal Flyers are an ideal companion for approaching crags and to tackle challenging scrambles. With an outsole coated in a high friction Megaprip formula, they provide sublime grip on surfaces, allowing you to focus on your route.
