About the Cassin X-Light Ice Axe

The Cassin X-Light gives you a lightweight climbing tool for technical routes. This versatile ice axe features a modular design that lets you switch between configurations depending on terrain and preference (this variant is supplied with adze; additional/replacement adze/hammer sold separately). The interchangeable steel spike has a hole large enough to clip a carabiner for use with lanyards and retention devices.

The simplified shaft makes the X-Light the most suitable axe for low-angle terrain typical of fast-and-light technical routes. The single-curve shaft is optimised with the angle of the pick for solid performance on alpine ice and for use as a piolet on traverses.

The updated 3 part handle can be configured to suit the terrain being climbed with an upper pommel that can be repositioned without tools. This also increases mechanical resistance to the specific stresses on each part of the handle. The adze has been shaped for a comfortable grip and the pick does not have teeth near the shaft to further increase comfort and help limit wear and tear on gloves.
