The Faction Prodigy 1.0 has been altered for the 2019 season to be more enjoyable than ever. This ski still holds the same approachable values as the rest of the Prodigy range, they're confidence-boosting, durable, and above all, super enjoyable to ride.
Sitting at 90 mm underfoot, the Prodigy 1.0 is the most park and freestyle focused ski of the Prodigy lineup. This width is perfect for laps of the park, carving freshly groomed hard-pack, or bringing tricks out of the park and onto the piste.
The Prodigy 1.0 skis are built to be easy to ride, this allows riders to lay down their creativity on the hill in a relaxed and smooth way. Ample early rise in the tip and tail and a surfy taper zone creates a butter smooth feel. Riders will be in full control on hard snow thanks to the strong camber mid-section. A new change for this year that will be welcome by those who love carving, is the sidewall construction. Sidewalls improve a skis stability and they increase the grip.
Traditional park skis often boast full symmetry, however this is not always beneficial for everyone. Faction have created the Prodigy 1.0 to cater for those riders that require a playful freestyle twin that maintains a directional shape. This improves groomer control and gives a better feel on the mountain outside of the park.
This model is part of Factions X range - a new concept designed to bring the best ski performance to all their customers. Based on customer feedback, they made the decision to eliminate a women's ski range on the basis that women riding Faction skis didn't want slimmed down or simplified models, but rather wanted the same top end construction and on-snow feel as the men's range. To that end, a selection of models from the Prodigy and Dictator series of skis are now available in a wider range of sizes and choice of 2 topsheets with identical constructions. In doing this, Faction have created truly unisex skis that let anyone and everyone bring their own style to the mountains with no restrictions.
These skis are so enjoyable to ride that they are a ski of choice for Faction's elite riders including Olympians Alex Hall and Sarah Hoefflin. If you feel most at home alternating between groomers and park then you're sure to get on with these. Due to the playful nature of these skis they are also a great choice for snow domes or dryslope.
Poplar Core - Medium-weight, durable softwood, with playful flex and pop, and strong dampening qualities
Directional Twin - A great blend between freestyle and downhill performance
Full Strength Sidewall Construction - Sidewalls are great for grip and ski stability. They also help dampen vibration and disperse impact through the ski to make the ride more comfortable
Die-Cut PTEX 3000 - This sintered base material is fast and is more porous than other materials so holds wax better
Anti-Chip Micro-Cap - The topsheet is slightly rolled over the topsheet to protect this area which is otherwise sensitive to damage
XL 2.2 mm Edges - Extra thick edges provide extra durability for riders who jib and hit rails
Rocker/Camber/Rocker - Rocker tip & tail with 3mm camber blends stability, edge hold and maneuverability
Dual Radius Sidecut - Two different radii along a single edge. This combines both agility and stability to create a smooth turn with no drag
Surf Zones - The rocker has been designed alongside the taper to give a smooth and surfy ride in all conditions
Flax Stringers - Composite strips which are both stronger and lighter than the fibreglass that they replace. Faction use these fibers to provide lightweight dampening
