About the GNU Essential Service
The GNU's Essential Service is a powerful, directional freeride snowboard that will feel just at home charging piste as it does hitting huge kickers in the park or slashing backcountry pow lines.
Gnu is donating a portion of the proceeds from the Essential service to long-time partners theserviceboard.org and organisation dedicated to mentoring teens to conquer personal and cultural challenges.
The powerful C2 hybrid camber profile is an aggressive combination of camber and rocker profiles, with mild rocker in the centre of the board helping float in powder and creating freestyle freedom, and camber out to the nose and tail providing control, precision and power.
In addition to this aggressive camber profile, Gnu have incorporated Magne-Traction edge technology into the Essential Service, which consists of seven strategically located and sized serrations placed along the length of the snowboard. This provides more contact points between the board and the snow creating higher levels of grip, even on ice.
The Essential service contains a carefully selected Balsa/Aspen/Paulowina wood core. These Eco sourced woods provide strength and increased pop whilst keeping the overall weight of the snowboard to a minimum. Recycled UHMW sidewalls provide resilience and a sintered base ensures that the Essential Service glides with ease. A Tri-ax/Bi-ax fibre glass combination enhances and magnifies pop and a medium/firm flex pattern provides a responsive feel, ideal for intermediates to advanced riders and all mountain snowboarding.

- Recycled UHMW Sidewalls - Ultra High Molecular Weight exterior sidewalls made from materials derived from soy for a bombproof construction. Through the use of recycled materials Gnu have reduced the environmental impact of manufacturing this snowboard
- Tri-Ax/Bi-Ax fibreglass composite - Tri-Ax and Bi-Ax fibreglass layered at varying degrees to enhance and magnify pop
- Sintered Base - Compression hardened for durability with super fast glide
