The LifeStraw Mission 5L gives you their top-level water filter and purifier with a high-volume gravity feed system providing safe drinking water for multi-day outdoor activities, alpine expedition and off-grid travel.

The Mission gravity filter features a durable 5L water reservoir and hose attachment that works with the high-performance Membrane Ultrafilter to purify water from a variety of sources. The Membrane Ultrafilter can deliver a flow rate of up to 12 litres per hour and provides up to 18,000 litres of clean drinking water per filter lifespan.

The easy to use system features a quick-connect hose, water purification cartridge and a built-in backwashing system. The roll-away design can be stowed easily in a backpack for travel and features a shoulder strap for easy transport and flexibility to hang virtually anywhere around basecamp.

The LifeStraw Mission Membrane Ultrafilter is made of hollow fibre membrane technology. These membranes are made of small straws that contain microscopic pores. The standard Lifestraw Microfilter system features straws of 0.2 microns in diameter whereas the Ultrafilter uses straws that are 10 x smaller at 0.02 microns in diameter. This allows clean water to pass through while preventing larger particulates - viruses, bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and other forms of turbidity - from reaching the clean water chamber at the other end. The result is safe drinking water flows into a clean chamber for consumption while potential contaminants are blocked.

LifeStraw’s Membrane Ultrafilter is capable of removing 99.999% (log 5) of viruses; 99.999999% (log 8) of bacteria (including E. coli), 99.999% (log 5) of parasites (Giardia, Cryptosporidium, etc.), and 99.999% (log 5) of microplastics.
