About the Marker Kingpin 10

The Kingpin 10 from Marker introduces a new age in Tech-style AT bindings. For the skier who wants to hike fresh backcountry lines Marker have created a binding that offers the power and security of a standard alpine downhill binding with the lightweight, performance driven construction of a Tech-style binding.

The Kingpin's Ultralight Tech carbon rails and hot-forged aluminium parts keep the weight to a lean 660g (without break). The PinTech climbing system means the heel-piece doesn't rise with the foot, reducing lifting weight in ascent while the easy to use integrated climbing aids offer a range of three positions to help reduce fatigue over mountain terrain.

Six high-performance steel springs, instead of the conventional four, give the toe-piece greater energy absorption for more reliable hold and a greater degree of power transmission to the edge for maximum control and precision.

Here's the smart bit -- unlike the two-pin heel hold offered by other Tech-style bindings the Kingpin heel takes its design from alpine downhill bindings. The Kingpin heel provides greater pressure to the boot through vertical hold with wider contact points for better retention and leverage which in turn creates direct power transmission through the heel to the edges.

All this creates a more stable platform than regular Tech-style bindings and allows the heel DIN regulated vertical and lateral release which is what really sets the Kingpin apart as the first Tech-style binding to gain DIN ISO Norm 13992:2007 certification. This means the Kingpin works to a defined release point for consistent release values comparable with those of a standard alpine binding.

All this gives you a unique, high-quality 'PinTech' binding, allowing you to tackle the most challenging of terrain with confidence. The Marker Kingpin 10 -- hail to the Kingpin!

*The Kingpin is designed to work with AT style boot systems. It is compatible with almost all touring ski boots featuring PinTech inserts and satisfying DIN ISO Norm 9523.
