About the Petzl Reverso

The Reverso from Petzl is a feature packed, lightweight and multi-purpose belay/rappel device that can be used on single, half and twin ropes. The ultra-light design and minimalist construction, made from hot-forged aluminium, allows the device to be as strong as possible while still only weighing 57g.

This multi-purpose device can handle many tasks with many different ropes effortlessly, allowing for effective stopping power and control on half, twin and single ropes. The Reverso can also be used to belay the leader, one or two seconding climbers, can be used for rappelling. It is also ideal for multi-pitch routes as it allows for quick changeovers from Reverso mode to belaying the leader when climbing, it also functions as an auto-locking device when you're belaying the following climber directly off the anchor.

The V-shaped friction channels increase friction when you use thin ropes, the friction is adapted when you do use larger diameter ropes, and they increase locking pressure on the ropes in Reverso mode. These also increase the safety of the device, asymmetrical grooved sidewalls increase breaking power while rappelling or during a leader or top rope fall, the rope also runs smoothly through the device when taking up slack. The device is also very 'rope friendly' as it won't kink the ropes, regardless of the mode used.

When the device in loaded in Reverso mode there is a carabiner hole which allows the load to be easily and gradually released.

The Reverso is really easy and intuitive to use, the Reverso attachment point is easily identified and there are usage diagrams (standard belay and Reverso modes) engraved on device.
