About the Rab Storm Bivi

A classic of the Rab line and a long-time favourite among climbers, hikers, and mountaineers, the Storm Bivi returns with an updated design that's lighter and more compact.

Built with two weights of tough nylon fabric and finished with a fluorocarbon-free DWR, the Storm Bivi is made to meet the challenges of a changing and unpredictable outdoor environment. A fully waterproof 70D base is resilient and highly protective while a 40D ripstop nylon top with PU coating keeps the pack weight low.

A 3D construction accommodates larger sleeping bags with a zipped main entry and breathable mesh panel for added venting to minimise condensation. Weighing just 547g and packing down to a mere 25 x 12cm, the Rab Storm Bivi stows easily in a pack for a range of outdoor activities from day hikes and cycle tours to multiday trekking and mountaineering.

Features:
  • Ultra-compact & ultralight bivy shelter
  • Lightweight and breathable waterproof ripstop nylon fabrics
  • 10,000mm Hydrostatic Head
  • 3-dimensional construction to accomodate larger sleeping bags

Although very lightweight and a great size when packed down, the waterproof values of this bivvy are shocking. In the 2 times I’ve used it (once under a basher) I’ve been soaked through both times, very disappointing, especially as it’s labelled a ‘storm’ bivvy. For a product retailing at around the 100 pound mark it doesn’t seem to live up to standard
