Roxy are one of the few brands out there that cater only to women, and because of this they know how to create a range that is perfect for female skiers. Their team consists of some of the best athletes in the world including Sochi Gold medallist, Dara Howell.
The Shima 90 has the narrowest entry in the new Shima range. At 90mm underfoot this ski is the fastest Shima edge-to-edge, and the one best suited to throwing down long carving turns on hardpack snow. But this is by no means a one-trick piste ski- that 90mm waist is plenty to stay on top of variable conditions and soft snow. In fact, thanks to the rockered tip the Shima 90 can float and pivot smoothly all over the mountain, and eases cleanly in to each new turn. A rockered tail makes turn exits just as fluid as their initiations.
The full wood core consists of a poplar and beech blend that allows for strength as well as a responsive flex, and is reinforced by a triaxial fibreglass weave that enhances the ski's torsional rigidity without adding the weight of metal laminates, meaning that although it feels very lightweight there is still a powerful and stable feel to the ski even at high speeds. Full wood cores dampen vibrations for a ride quality that can't be matched by composite alternatives.
Cap construction adds durability to the topsheet and sheds the weight of a sidewall, and a medium flex allows for the easy handling which makes this ski so approachable to a huge range of ability levels.
Whilst anyone can have a great time on the Shima skis, we think intermediate and advanced riders looking to conquer the pistes and dip in and out of deeper snow will be best able to release the full potential of this ski!
5 point, Dual Sidecut Shape - The widest point if the ski has been brought in so that the tip and tail tapers off earlier, this is blended with a dual radius sidecut to create a versatile ski which can do multiple turn shapes both on and off the piste
Early Rise Tip and Tail - Rocker in the tip and tail lifts prevents edge catching and gives float off piste, camber underfoot gives stability, grip, and power on piste
Poplar/Beech Core - A great blend of qualities, this core is responsive, absorbs vibration and has a natural and consistent flex which can only be found in a real wood core
Tri-Axial Fibreglass - Ensures long lasting pop and increases the compressional strength and durability of the wood core
Cap Construction -Lightweight and durable, the topsheet forms a protective cap over the core
