About the Salomon Stance 102

For 2021 Salomon introduced their new Stance range of skis. These are directional metal laminate all-mountain skis designed to bridge the gap between Salomon's notorious on-piste carvers and their more playful QST freeride range. The Stance 102 is the widest in the Stance range and is designed to go everywhere whilst ensuring a butter-smooth ride at any speed on any condition.

Measuring 102mm at the waist, this ski sits at the wider end of the all-mountain category. With its wide rockered tip and tail, it can easily jump from on-piste charging to gliding over deeper snow found between trees or under chairlifts. That rocker helps keep turn initiations smooth and simple too and the camber underfoot keeps the hardpack performance impressive all over. This ski is perfect for someone who likes to enjoy deeper snow conditions but still likes to charge fast on fresh groomers on bluebird days.

The Stance 102 uses the latest construction and technology to be a powerful directional carver. A full poplar wood core sandwiched between two titanal layers plus a full race-inspired sidecut is an extremely durable and stable formula, making the Stance 102 a brilliant on-piste carver on fresh groomers. Even with dual titanal layers, the ski is still lively and has good pop between turns. The first layer of titanal runs the length of the ski but the second features cutouts in front and behind the bindings to keep weight down but still has a strong torsional stiffness.

The Stance 102 also includes Salomon's C/FX layer construction in the tip and tail, which is a combination of Flax fibers along with Carbon to reduce weight but increase torsional stiffness whilst providing excellent dampening and smoothing capability. As a result, the Stance 96 gives you confidence anywhere on the mountain regardless of speed, terrain, or conditions.

Stance 102 has a rounded flex pattern, with moderate softness in the tip which ramps up towards the center towards the tail is slightly stiffer. This makes it easy to engage and hold turns on and off the piste at any speed and makes it more poppy and lively when transitioning from left to right.

The Stance 102 is an all-mountain beast. It has great stability, responsiveness, and precision to give you the confidence to improve your skillset anywhere on the mountain.

Features Include
  • Full Sandwich Sidewall - ABS construction running around the entire sidewall adds strength and increases ski/snow contact
  • C/FX Superfiber - A weave of Carbon and Flax fibers improves torsional stiffness and dampens the ski while remaining extremely lightweight
  • All-Terrain Rocker - Rockered tip for easy turn initiation and maximum floatation, camber underfoot to improve stability at speed and edge grip on hard pack, and a subtle tail rocker for smooth turn exits
  • Metal Twinframe - Double titan laminate to improve the torsional stiffness and overall stability as well as helping power transmission to the edges of the ski when riding on hard snow
  • Full Woodcore - A full Poplar wood core running from tip to tail gives maximum stability and filters vibrations along the entire ski
