About the Sierra Designs Flex Capacitor

A unique patent-pending gusset system is the foundation of Sierra Design’s Flex Capacitor design.

Gusseted interior fabric, combined with an array of compression straps allow the pack to expand from 24 to 40 litres effortlessly, allowing you to carry more or reduce the pack size when carrying less.

Unlike conventional backpacks that expand vertically to house more equipment the Flex Capacitor, expands around its circumference, which in turn provides a more stable carry through not affecting the centre of gravity of the pack.

The expanding design allows you to carry all of the food and essentials for a multiday trip, and while you diminish your supplies it can contract to reduce excess volume resulting in greater stability. The smaller size of 25litres is ideal for day hikes and its expanded size can accommodate tents and overnight gear - one bag to rule them all? This is it.

A Y Flex suspension system provides rigidity vertically whilst providing torsional flexibility to work with your body’s movements whilst not causing the load of the pack to collapse. A zippered top lid allows access to the main body of the pack, where access to the frame can be facilitated where should you wish the Y-Flex stay can be removed.

The back system is comprised of two scapular and a singular lumbar pad. This promotes airflow around the lower back for warm and humid conditions. Opting for a significantly simpler back system, reduces the Flex Capacitor coming it at a minimal 1.1kg for the S/M and 1.13kg for the M/L.

Two compression straps run horizontally around the main body of the pack. These allow for the additional carry of hardware, such as trekking poles and shovels. They also allow the pack to be compressed adding to improving the load carry performance.

The Flex capacitor features 7 exterior pockets for those trail essentials. Two Zippered hip-belt pockets keep snacks and phones close at hand, two side water-bottle pockets are there for hydration bottles or maps, a top lid pocket and a two 20oz shoulder strap water bottle pocket for ease of access.
