About the Slingfin Portal 2 Tent

The Slingfin Portal 2 tent combines an ultralight, compact design with vertical headroom and Slingfin's innovative OutRigger system to deliver a tent worthy of praise across the outdoor industry.

Optimised to handle harsh weather conditions, the Portal 2 incorporates technologies from Slingfin's Expedition Series shelters to deliver a sub 3lb tent (trail weight) with a degree of stability and weather resistance previously reserved for dedicated 'four-season' tents.

A spreader bar in the roof adds structural stability and lifts the flysheet from the inner while providing rain cover to the entrances. The innovative OutRigger design lets you attach your trekking poles as additional uprights for further stability against harsh winds or snow loading. Pre-installed internal guylines can also be utilised to give the Portal incredible lateral stability for almost no weight penalty. This lets you tension the tent without venturing outside in poor weather.

The freestanding dome is easy to pitch with room enough for two people with sleeping pads and kit. The high-volume pole structure with a swivel provides well-distributed headroom without the weakness of hubs. Dual doors offer hassle-free access for both occupants with a vestibule on either side for added storage.

The Portal's inner 15D nylon no-see-um mesh fabric is great for camping in warmer climates, aiding moisture management and protecting against bugs. New KickStand vents feature opposing struts on the vestibule doors. These provide unrestricted cross-tent airflow for excellent condensation management without sacrificing weather protection.

Slingfin ensures only the finest grade fabrics and materials are used in their tents. An ultralight yet tough 10D nylon 66 ripstop flysheet optimises pack-weight and features a silicone treatment front and back to deliver reliable and long-lasting rain, mildew and UV protection. The groundsheet uses a fully taped 20D nylon ripstop with PE treatment to 1800mm HH. Poles are high-quality DAC Featherlite NFL.

For added protection, we recommend the Portal Footprint (available separately) to boost protection to your tent's floor.

For an even lighter trail weight the flysheet can be pitched with the Portal Tub Footprint (available separately). The Tub footprint uses the Portal 2P fly and poles for a superlight 2-person shelter in non-buggy, moderate weather conditions. Using the Tub Floor in place of the tent body reduces the Portal 2's trail weight to just under 1kg.

Seam Sealing Note: The seams on your Portal's flysheet are highly water-resistant and will handle light rain just fine without being seam sealed. However, the three seams directly beneath the tent poles should be seam sealed for maximum waterproofness in extended, heavy rains.
