About the Volkl Blaze 94

The Blaze 94 is part of Volkl's freeride range, which takes a different route to their traditional powerful freeride skis such as the Mantra. This ski is aimed at a free-rider who wants a playful and maneuverable ski that floats well, so they can fully get the most out of off-piste conditions.

The Blaze 94 is made up of a complex mixture of materials. To maintain stability and quick turn initiation the center of the ski has a 0.3mm titanal plate underneath the binding mounting area. But, in order to get the playful agile nature of a true freeride ski, there are no titanal plates at the tip and tail. In replacement, Volkl has included their Suspension Tip technology. In the tip and tail of the ski, there is an elastic rubbery material that acts like a shock absorber every time contact is made with the snow. This results in greater stability and provides better float in deep snow conditions.

The 194mm waist width and tip and tail rocker are features of a true freeride ski, offering performance off and on the piste. Having a slightly thinner waist than the Blaze 94 bigger brother (the 106) means the ski has a faster edge and is quicker to react. This ski will perform exceptionally well navigating through narrow and rough terrain. Furthermore, a multi-layer wood core mixes Poplar and Beech to provide a solid and stable platform that grips and rides hard. Wider skis don't normally tend to perform during long turns, but Volkl's 3 Radius Side Cut creates a ski that can both handle short agile turns and longer stronger turns on fresh groomers at high speed.

The Blaze 94 is a generation of freeride skis that are agile enough to maneuver around all obstacles all over the mountainside but still hold their own on long sweeping turns on fresh groomers.
