About the Volkl Mantra 102
Back for 2021 the Volkl Mantra 102 incorporates a camber profile and a 3 radius side cut to ensure maximum versatility across all-mountain conditions.
The Mantra 102 has been made more accessible, meaning that a broader range of abilities will be able to benefit from Volkl's legendary all-mountain/freeride ski. It features a titanal frame, rather than the full titanal layup that it had in previous seasons. In reducing the amount of metal present in the ski it has been made more nimble, playful, and user friendly. To compensate for the lack of metal in the tip of the ski Volkl has added carbon tips that provide excellent levels of torsional stiffness without a large amount of added weight. These lightweight but stable tips allow you to ski hard and fast all over the mountain with Volkl's renowned edges allowing you to cut through firm conditions without a second thought.
The 102mm waist width and tip and tail rocker are features of a true freeride ski, offering performance off and on the piste. One of the highlights of the Mantra 102 is the 3 radius sidecut. Due to the geometry of the side cut and depending on the rider's speed the effective edge can become shorter for agile turns and longer for strong carves on fresh groomers. It enables the ski to be both stable and maneuverable, which is something a traditional titanal ski couldn't achieve.
Not only does the 102 Mantra excel in-bounds but it retains its ability to go anywhere with deep rocker lines providing good amounts of float and the moderate taper making it easy to initiate turns in soft, off-piste snow. This full sidewall directional charger is well suited to an advanced skier looking to explore miles and miles across all-mountain conditions.
