Born in the heart of the Alps, Borealis Snowboards has been pushing boundaries since 2013. Founded by French-English rider Ben Hall, who grew up between Geneva and the Mont-Blanc region, this independent brand is all about building next-level snowboards that ride as good as they look — all while staying true to the planet we shred on.

With a mission to deliver mind-blowing performance without compromise, Borealis blends cutting-edge design with eco-conscious manufacturing. The result? Boards that charge hard, float deep, and carve clean — all while keeping sustainability at the core. Not sure which ride is right for you? Check out our Snowboard Buying Guides to dial in your perfect setup.

From their premium materials to their nature-inspired aesthetics, every Borealis snowboard is crafted with precision, passion, and a deep respect for the mountains. These boards don’t just perform — they connect you to the ride on a whole new level.

Borealis Sustainability

Borealis boards combine state-of-the-art materials and technologies with sustainable solutions to deliver high-end equipment with a lower impact on the environment.

Whilst some "less clean" products such as PU, carbon, or base materials are still necessary, Borealis looks for natural alternatives wherever they can to offer boards with the lowest carbon footprint possible.

Since 2013, they have tested, ridden, and incorporated these materials into their boards to deliver riders a unique, more sustainable alternative.

  • Renewable Energy at HQ: Borealis headquarters operates on 100% renewable energy, ensuring that even the development phase of their gear has minimal environmental impact.
  • FSC-Certified Construction: All Borealis wood cores are made using FSC-certified wood (Forest Stewardship Council). This ensures the timber comes from responsibly managed forests that are socially, economically, and environmentally viable, promoting long-term forest health.
  • Maritime Transportation: Recognising that transportation has a carbon footprint, all Borealis boards are shipped from the factory by maritime transport, which is the means of transportation with the least carbon footprint.
  • VOC-Free Bio-Resins: Borealis uses a Zero-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) resin. Traditional epoxy resins are a significant polluting factor in snowboard construction, releasing harmful chemicals. Boreralis’ bio-resins (containing a notable percentage of plant and vegetable matter) are significantly less harmful to the environment and the workers, while maintaining the strength and durability required for high-performance products.
  • 4-year guarantee on all boards: Borealis’ commitment to quality and performance means they offer an industry-leading 4-year guarantee on all boards.
  • Upcycling Program: Borealis donates discarded boards to Nok Boards, an upcycling company based in Grenoble that uses them to produce longboards - a cool way to give a second life to broken gear.
  • EOCA Member: Since 2020, Borealis has been a member of the EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) that creates and manages conservation projects throughout the world.

Borealis Design

Borealis’ strength lies in the high quality of their boards, believing that the durability, resilience, and outstanding finish of their gear is above that of any other equipment out there. With 30+ years of board designing and building experience, their partner factory GP87, led by Californian shaping guru Dan Agundes, has built a reputation for making the most high-end snowboards on the market.

Edge Synergy

Borealis boards are built using Edge Synergy technology. The combination of a progressive sidecut, mellow Sidewaves, and reverse radius contact points makes Borealis boards the most advanced carving devices out there.

Progressive Sidecut

This type of sidecut is designed to let you make small turns easily at lower speeds and to stay super stable and aggressive through bigger turns. Between the contact points and the inserts, the radius is smaller and more playful. When gaining speed and turning, the central part of the board is called into play with the wider radius taking over, adding support, stability, and increased edge hold when you need it the most.

Progressive Sidecut

Sidewaves & Reverse Radius

Mellow disruptions are added to the sidecut in front and behind both binding areas. Borealis calls these Sidewaves. They add grip and edge hold to the board on very hard or icy terrain. Next time you see a dodgy-looking ice patch, you'll know your board's Sidewaves will slice through it to keep you on course with confidence.

Many Borealis snowboards come with a reverse radius at the contact points. The transition from one radius to a reversed one - right at the contact points - makes them incredibly efficient at holding an edge. High speed carves take on a new meaning, and you'll up your game faster than it takes to say it.

Wood Cores

Borealis uses sustainably sourced wood in all their cores. Of their three core constructions, two feature in our range of boards:

Woodland Core - Sustainable Quality Poplar

The new woodland core is made of 100% poplar wood. Light, durable, and poppy, the Woodland Core creates the dynamism you can expect from a premium snowboard.

Used in the Auriga and Auriga One.

UL Forest Core - Sustainable Wood Blend

The UltraLight Forest Core is made of poplar and paulownia. As the name suggests, it is light but also highly resistant and snappy. Paulownia brings lightness while poplar delivers strength and durability.

Used in the Tundra, Artefact, and Koi.

Liquid Sidewalls… Ultra-Smooth Riding Technology

Borealis uses liquid polyurethane to craft their Liquid Sidewalls. These have several different roles. They act as a barrier against impact (branches, rocks, skis in queues, etc). They follow your board’s flex, moving along as it does with a dynamic fluidity.

Finally, they act as a very efficient dampening agent, cancelling unwanted chatter and absorbing impact. The result is an ultra-smooth ride, allowing you to move at faster speeds for longer periods with less fatigue.
