Winter programme away from the pistes
High-flyers head for Asitz, since it is there that one of the longest and fastest steel cable slides in the world heads down into the valley. On the Flying Fox XXL adrenaline-junkies will shoot into the valley at 130 km/hr on a 1.6 km steel cable (open from 4.3.2017).
At the end of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm is the highest tree-top hiking trail in Europe. In combination with the ‘Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps’, this excursion destination is the only project of its kind in the world.
"Full speed ahead" is the order of the day at the Streuböden intermediate station in Fieberbrunn, where Timoks Alm Coaster speeds safely down the mountain and takes you slowly back up again in comfort. The speed of this two-seater will get everyone going. Watch out for the treacherous "Kaiserquelle", the "Riesenschlange"(big snake) and the "360° Carousel".
Happy hormones are also released tobogganing - the Asitz toboggan run is easy to get to via the gondola lift – at night-time too on Tuesdays and Fridays. The six kilometre natural toboggan run on the Biberg near Saalfelden is also very popular. The toboggan run on the Reiterkogel proceeds three kilometres downhill – and even operates late into the night. (Monday to Saturday). There is another opportunity to nip down into the valley on the 2.5 kilometre Diretissima natural toboggan run in Fieberbrunn, which is floodlit until midnight for tobogganing fun.
