The Backland series from Atomic is their ski touring focused range, a collection of ultralight and sturdy skis specifically designed for endurance ski touring and mountaineering missions. The Backland 78 only comes in at 1060g per ski @175, and with a slimmer waist width of 79mm, this ski craves to climb.

It features an All-Mountain Rocker to help navigate and control the ski through crud, chop, and various other snow conditions. This also helps to facilitate a smooth and stable ride on the descent. Even with a slimmer waist width than other touring setups, the Backland 78 can still hold its own in the deep stuff thanks to Atomic's HRZN Tech Tip. This adds 10% more surface area to the tip of the ski for better floatation and better tracking through chop/crud.

The incredibly low weight is achieved by the use of an ultralight wood core that mixes Poplar and Caruba. This blend keeps the weight low without compromising downhill performance, making a ski that's both efficient uphill and enjoys charging back down.
