A bivi bag or sack (sometimes spelled bivvi, bivy or bivvy) is a minimalist shelter just big enough to fit a person and their sleeping bag inside. A bivvy bag is therefore one of the lightest and least bulky forms of shelter for outdoor adventurers. Bivvy stands for bivouac - which is an improvised shelter someone might make for themselves if they have no tent. A bivvy bag is a step up from a bivouac because it has been purpose made for the job!
