Boa first appeared on lightweight touring ski boots but the technology is now becoming more popular for all types of ski boot. Boa is a lacing system, originally developed for Snowboard Boots but now widely available on ski boots, Ski Helmets and cycling and Running Shoes. It uses a dial connected to a wire cable; when you turn the dial the cable tightens and is locked into place. When you release the dial by pulling it outwards, all the tension on the cable is released making it easy to slide your foot in and out of your ski boot.
