Spiroll® offer innovative ways to protect climbing ropes at a very competitive price, evolving from sports climbing into a rescue, rope access, maritime, and industrial product line, with distribution all over the world. Spiroll offer simple, clever and effective ways to care for your climbing rope using patented and innovative technology. Climbing ropes are constantly under threat from sharp edges, ice axes, or simple wear and tear. This is why Spiroll refers to its protective products as ‘helmets for your rope’.
Spiroll Chafe Guards and Spiroll Rope Protectors are constructed from rugged and durable polyurethane that wraps itself around ropes with minimal bulk, minimal weight, but maximum resiliency. Spiroll's rope protection equipment is extremely versatile, working across dock lines, mooring lines, rigging lines, climbing ropes and professional ropes.
Spiroll was founded by Mark O in 2001 during a Production & Operations course assignment, as part of his MBA. Whilst out climbing, Mark had previously found himself protecting his ropes from damage using anything he could find, such as backpacks and jackets. After visiting local climbing stores and failing to find a solution, he inadvertently stumbled upon a gap in the market, and decided to fill it himself: with a commercially available rope protector for the everyday climber at an affordable price. With the help of his engineer father, the prototype was laid down in a single evening.
Years later, and Spiroll's sphere of influence now moves way beyond sports climbing into rescue, rope access, maritime, and industrial product lines. To this day, Spiroll remains loyal to its routes in New England and procures all its supplies and services from U.S. companies.
