Xion Protective Gear makes a range of protective body armour specifically for snowboarding, designed to be worn as a discreet and flexible base layer. Xion’s snow sports line is often referred to as their "Freeride Range", which includes Xion freeride shorts and longer Xion Bermuda freeride pants which both offer protection for the hips, thighs, and tailbone (coccyx). Upper body protection for the back, spine, shoulders, chest and ribs comes in the form of either a long-sleeve jacket or a sleeveless vest. Xion also makes specific protectors and pads for knees and elbows.

A key feature of Xion body armour is the use of D3O®, a "smart" polymer that is soft and flexible in its normal state but hardens instantly upon impact to absorb and dissipate energy. This technology is what allows Xion armour to be so low-profile without sacrificing protection.

Xion Protective Gear was founded by two Dutch stuntmen who were looking for a better solution for body impact protection than the bulky and restrictive gear that was available at the time. Their gear was initially developed for stunt professionals but very quickly became popular in lots of different extreme sports - especially snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking and longboarding.
