Campbeds & Cots

Campbeds, known as camping cots by our American friends, are portable beds designed for camping - so are lightweight, foldable and portable. Unlike an Airbed or a Sleeping Pad, a camp bed keeps you elevated off the ground so provides better insulation from the cold ground and more comfort due to better protection from stones and hard surfaces. Most camp beds are made using an aluminum frame with fabric stretched over. The weight and size of camp beds makes them best suited to camping by car rather than backpacking but ultra light backpacking campbeds are available. These backpacking campbeds might only raise you off the ground by a few centimeters and will use lightweight materials to minimise their total weight.
