For the past 8 years, The Ski Club of Great Britain has conducted the 8th SCGB Consumer Research Survey; with over 19,000 responses recorded. This extensive Consumer Research study allows the industry to understand and track trends in UK Snowsports, providing the largest piece of snowsports research in the UK and an incredible insight for businesses such as Absolute-Snow.
We are very pleased to see that Absolute-Snow was recognised as the UK's no.1 retailer of snow sports equipment online. With 83% of respondents wanting to recommend ski holidays to their friends and colleagues and over 70% stating their financial situation will stay the same or get better over the next 12 months, we are very pleased to be number 1 for online equipment purchases.
With travel being a difficult subject to discuss, we look towards the ski holiday side of things where France was still the number one destination for UK skiers taking 40% of the popularity vote followed by Austria (19%), Italy (11%) and Switzerland (5%) – whether this stays the same after the 2020/21 season is anyone’s guess but with 96% of the respondents who skied last season (13,989 people) saying that they would go skiing next season it seems like positivity is never too far away from the UK skiers and snowboarders.
Paul McNamara, Chairman of Absolute Snow says; “We have a fantastic website, we receive phenomenal customer feedback and we’ve seen our sales increase year on year so know we’re doing a good job but, until we saw the results in the SCGB survey, we didn’t really understand how well we were doing relative to other retailers in our sector. It is extremely gratifying to see the results which really are testimony to our team back at Base Camp in Watford. Our operation is all about offering expert advice, rapid delivery and excellent customer service. Because of this, our customer base grows mostlyby word of mouth and half our sales come from repeat customers. Some people think there is no loyalty to the retailer when shopping online but this is Absolutely (sorry for the pun) is not true. If you get the important stuff right, customers stick with you and tell their friends.”
