The Datawax DMT Diamond File polishes the edge after sharpening to remove any case hardened burrs.
Sharpening the edges of your skis gives you more control by increasing the 'bite' into the snow. This is particularly important when the snow is hard-packed or icy because it enormously assists your ability to stop and turn and to glide nice and smoothly - cutting the ice rather than sliding sideways.
