About the DMM Deadman

The Deadman is a well-sized snow anchor crafted to the high standard that climbers and mountaineers have come to expect from DMM.

Decent belays in classic snow gullies can be hard to find. Sometimes, on a big open snow slope, there will be no other possible options beyond burying your axes, and that won’t work very well unless the snow is hard.

The Deadman gives you an element of security when forced to anchor in softer snow conditions thanks to its large surface area. This improves upon the classic ice axe belay by creating an increased resistance to the placement pulling through.

For use in snow gullies and below cornice top outs, the Deadman creates protection out of nothing and provides security when negotiating more insecure places.

Make sure you’ve got one clipped to the back of your harness the next time you head out winter climbing.
