The Air Tech from Grivel gives you a lightweight, semi-rigid mountaineering crampon that's perfect for plastic mountaineering boots with a rigid sole and substantial toe and heel welts. Front and rear bales feature adjustable positioning points allowing you to customise the angle of the fit to suit your footwear.
Air Tech Light, in aluminium, is a close relative of the Air Tech family but with a significantly lower weight.
Tool-free adjustment makes the Air Tech quick and convenient to secure, with a nylon speed lever in the rear working with a stainless steel front bale and adjustable single strap to hold the boot firmly in place. Grivel's integrated stainless steel safety strap gives you peace of mind during tricky moves; preventing loss of the crampon were it to become separated from your boot.
Underfoot, laser-cut Chromoly steel points provide traction over steep icy routes. Ten contact points engage while walking with two extra points - the third pair of front points - are shorter and set wider to grip the slope during traverses. The last two front points feature double angulation allowing them to maintain bite during descents and sideways traverses.
A multi-ply stainless steel flex regulation bar works like suspension, providing dynamic movement that allows the crampon to flex with the foot as you climb.
The Air Tech features Grivel's Antibott system (as can be seen in the video). This pro-active, anti-ball design works to prevent the build-up of wet snow and ice underfoot, which can otherwise render the crampon's grip ineffective and lead to slips and falls.
The low weight makes them great for the fast-moving alpinist negotiating varied terrain on back-country ski tours or mountaineering trips.
The two parts are designed to fit together - points inward - to be stowed safely when not in use. Package includes the Grivel Accordion - a patented sleeve that fits over the central adjustment bar to prevent ice build-up in wet snow conditions.
The Grivel Air Tech New Matic Crampon delivers durable construction with a performance design - great for the demands of mixed modern climbing, giving you a product you can rely on to help get you to the top and back again.
