Mammut's Aenergy 20-25L is part of their ST line of packs, designed to provide all-day comfort for ski tourers embarking into the unknown.
The Aenergy series uses a culmination of a running vest-style harness system coupled with anatomically shaped shoulder straps to ensure the load is kept secure to the back regardless of how vigorously you may be touring. Elastic is used on the chest strap to ensure a firm, close fit, while still allowing you to breathe. Should you be required to carry heavier loads, the front compression strap of the pack can be repositioned and used as a hip belt to provide effective load transfer into the legs.
For transitioning from Skiing to climbing/hiking, the pack utilises a speed ski attachment. An elasticated bungee located above the right shoulder strap can be used in conjunction with the lower left gear loop to secure a set of skis. The skis can then be swung around the rear to be carried in a diagonal L formation, without having to take the pack off.
Access to the array of pockets of the pack can be done without taking the pack off. While access to the main compartment is facilitated by rear access, perfect in winter conditions to ensure the back system doesn't get wet with snow. As with all ski touring packs a separate fast-access compartment on the front of the pack can be used to store avalanche safety equipment such as probes and shovels.
For the technical outdoors individual, an integrated helmet coupled with a rope attachment and ice axe loops ensures the Aenergy will get you straight to the summit and back to the hut.
