About the Volkl Yumi 84
The Yumi is a member of Volkl's all-mountain ski range and the technology included in the ski makes it perfect for enjoying every run on the mountain whilst also having the versatility to explore off-piste areas.
The core Yumi 84 features different materials in comparison to Volkl's other all-mountain skis. It continues to use a titanal binding platform for ultimate stability and feedback, but rather than a thicker titanal plate, Volkl has wrapped the titanal plate in a 'Glass Frame'. This adds stability and strength without unnecessary weight, keeping the ski light and playful so it's more accessible for intermediate riders looking for an all-mountain setup.
The Yumi features Volkl's reliable multi-layer wood core; two different types of wood provide power, stability and snap. Wood cores create a natural flex that just can't be replicated and Volkl have perfected theirs over the years to give riders maximum pleasure. One of the highlights of the Yumi 84 is the 3-radius sidecut. Due to the geometry of the side cut and depending on the rider's speed, the effective edge can become shorter for agile turns and longer for strong carves on fresh groomers. It enables the ski to be both stable and manoeuvrable, which is something a traditional titanal ski couldn't achieve.
At 84 mm underfoot the Yumi is incredibly nimble on hardpack and grips like a traditional carving ski. The full sidewall construction transfers power into the snow for accurate and precise turns. The tip rocker profile makes it super easy to initiate a turn, whilst the rocker also adds soft snow versatility, providing a floaty, surfy feel in powder.
The all-mountain nature of the Yumi skis makes them perfect for riders who enjoy charging the pistes as well as dipping in and out of powder. This is a truly adventurous ski for the adventurous rider. These skis are best suited for ambitious intermediate skiers right up to the expert level.
- Multi-layer Wood Core - Use of two woods for different areas of the ski. Ash is used underfoot to provide stability and secure screw retention. Poplar at either end provides resilience and snap
- 3 Radius Sidecut tight centre radius underfoot for extremely easy short turns, long radius disruption resistant tip and no radius limit tail
- Titanal Binding Platform A thin Titanal layer (0,3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski
- Tip Rocker - Tip rocker gives masses of soft snow performance and makes the ski more nimble on piste too without compromising hard snow stability
- Tail Rocker - Tail rocker works in tandem with the tip rocker to allow for easy pivoting without affecting the power of the camber underfoot
- Lightweight - Weighing only 1420g (161cm) you can ski harder for longer in this energy saving profile
