About the Black Diamond ATC Alpine Guide

At Black Diamond, innovation never stops, and the ATC Alpine Guide is no different, building upon the ATC Guide's success to be a featherweight version of Black Diamond's much loved versatile belay/rappel device.

The ATC Alpine Guide is built for smash and grab ascents in the mountains. At just 73 grams, this featherweight belay/rappel device is optimised for ropes between 8.1 and 8.5 millimetres in diameter, though still works with ropes from 6.9 to 9mm.

The ATC Alpine Guide can still be can be used in guide mode for one or two climbers to ascend or descend simultaneously. Belaying off anchors is facilitated with this piece of kit, as is rappelling and hauling up the rest of your gear. Highly recommended for trad climbers and climbing in alpine conditions, this versatile device can of course function in simple gym scenarios too.
