About the Black Crows Corvus Freebird

The Freebird range is Black Crows' selection of Touring skis designed to make the hike up almost as fun as the ski down!

The basic shape and characteristics of the 2021 Corvus Freebird are unsurprisingly taken from the all-mountain Corvus ski, but this ski has had a major rework to streamline it straight at the needs of alpine-touring skiers with the need for downhill perfomrance as much as the up.

A poplar core provides the skis lively feel and smooth flex whilst a titanal plate underfoot impoves the depth for mountin modern apline/tour hybrid bindings. Less pronounced tip rocker and elongated sidecuts compared with the previuos model with sidewall construction and camber provides a more aggressive ski with strong edge hold across a range of snow types.

The 107mm waist allow for a good amount of floatation and maneuverability for deeper snow on the descent, but still aren't too much ski to handle when making your way back to the lift to find your next hike.

Articulated Tail shape allows for hassle-free attachment of climbing skins, the Camox freebird was designed as a touring ski that would allow for play in mid-winter powder as well as slushy spring days, making it a super versatile Touring ski to suit a huge range of riders!

Included Bindings - Marker Kingpin 13 100-125mm (Black/Red)

The Kingpin 13 from Marker introduces a new age in Tech-style AT bindings. For the skier who wants to hike fresh backcountry lines Marker have created a binding that offers the power and security of a standard alpine downhill binding with the lightweight, performance driven construction of a Tech-style binding.

The Kingpin's Ultralight Tech carbon rails and hot-forged aluminium parts keep the weight to a lean 670g. The PinTech climbing system means the heel-piece doesn't rise with the foot, reducing lifting weight in ascent while the easy to use integrated climbing aids offer a range of three positions to help reduce fatigue over mountain terrain.

Features Include
  • Single Beak and a Half Profile- Tip rocker with slight tail rocker provides easy pivoting and edge control
  • Raised Tail - Adds a playful feel in soft snow while retaining traditional alpine behaviour on hardpack
  • Paulownia & Poplar Wood Core - Lightweight and dense core for minimal weight on the uphill and stability on the way down
  • ABS Sidewalls - A semi cap construction gives the strength and grip of sidewalls, but also saves weight and makes the skis easier to pivot
  • Tri-axial & Bi-axial fibreglass - Torsional strength in this ski is provided by fibreglass laminates laid in multiple directions, which makes for firm edge grip and control at low weight
