The K2 Luv 80 LV is a truly remarkable ski boot - it's ladies all-mountain performance boot with an approachable flex that's packed full of amazing features and comes at a purse-friendly price point! With a state of the art weight-reducing shell design and heat mouldable liners, they're also some of the lightest, most comfortable women's alpine ski boots on the market. What's not to Luv?
The Luv 80 LV is the Low Volume version of this boot, meaning that it has a last width of 98mm. For most ladies with average sized feet, these boots will give a comfortable fit straight out of the box, with a good fit through the midfoot and heel. That 80 flex is the perfect soft-medium stiffness for skiers who want enough support to take on anything the mountain has to offer but don't want race-boot-style rigidity. Its particularly well suited to beginner and intermediate skiers who are hoping to push their riding further and want a little more support from their boots.
The boot shell itself is optimised to be a lightweight and low bulk as possible while maintaining the power and drive of a performance alpine boot. K2's groundbreaking PowerLight Shell is made thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) panels with four varying stiffness ratings. These different widths of plastic are strategically placed in key areas to optimise performance and power transfer while reducing bulk and weight where it is not necessary. The result is some of the lightest yet best skiing alpine ski boots ever made!
The use of plastics with varying stiffness really come into play with K2's FastFit entry system, where large, soft TPU zones are placed at the medial and lateral sides of the shell. This use of thinner, more flexible material around the instep allow for super quick entry to the boot - vital for unexpected fresh snow dumps and bluebird mornings, or for when you cant wait for a beer after a long day out on the hill.
Alongside the Powerlight Shell, the Luv 80 features K2's Lower Power Chassis – a very stiff TPU zone at bottom of the shell, which provides torsional rigidity along the whole boot, for quick edge to edge transfer throughout every turn. The cuff and shell are brought together using K2's rivet-free Energy Interlock system which integrates the two components while reducing stress on the boot's material, to produce a smoother, progressive flex.
At the rear of the boot you'll find the Powerfuse Spyne, a co-injected "Y" shaped support that adds strength and power to the Energy Interlock in order to maximise flex efficiency and lateral stiffness. This section of the boot allows for maximum energy transfer and low distortion into the boots flex, helping to promote a smooth performance and low vibrations across all conditions. Here, you'll also find the Adjustment Cuff, specially designed to allow you to find the right fit for both comfort and performance. This adjustable cuff spoiler allows for extra room around the calf or can give greater support for a more upright skiing stance.
This kind of easy adjustability and customisation is a key feature of the K2 Luv 80 and part of what makes it one of the best ladies alpine ski boots out there. All components are easy to remove and replace using only basic tools, meaning that hardware can be easily repaired and upgraded, outsoles can be canted after wear or replaced with gripwalk soles for added traction. This blend of state of the art technology and construction, combined with simple customisation means that the K2 Luv 80 LV will continue to perform brilliantly, on any and all terrain, for seasons to come.
Powerfuse Spyne - The Y-shaped Spyne at the rear of the boot promotes smooth energy transfer in to the boot's flex for responsiveness in all terrain and minimising jarring vibrations.
Energy Interlock - Rivet-free technology that integrates the cuff and shell of the boot. The Interlock stretches when the boot is flexed forward, and the energy is released throughout the turn, creating a smoother, more natural flex.
K2 PowerLite Shell - Fully thermo-formable shell made with 4 different stiffnesses of TPU with optimal wall thickness in key areas to reduce weight and bulk. The result is some of the lightest alpine boots on the market, with all the power and drive of heavier boots.
Lower Power Chassis - Extra stiff TPU zone at bottom of the shell provides torsional rigidity for quick edge to edge transfer throughout turns.
Rear Adjustable Cuff - gives extra room around the calf and greater upper cuff support for a more upright stance.
FastFit Entry - Softer TPU materials designed into the instep area of the Powerlite shell for quick and easy entry and exit.
Intuition LuxFit Pro Liner - This liner is built for 'out of the box' comfort, and is fully heat mouldable to create a comfortable custom fit and eliminate uncomfortable pressure spots.
