About the Montane Axis Alpha
Aimed towards the alpine climber, winter mountaineer, and cold weather hiker, the Axis Alpha jacket from Montane keeps you warm in adverse conditions and has been rigorously tested in both laboratories and on the mountain by professionals.
Extensive warmth is supplied by a combination of HyperDRY™ goose down and POLARTEC® ALPHA® synthetic insulation. The two types of insulation supply efficient heat and moisture management, keeping you comfortable when moving fast in cold and changeable conditions.
The Axis Alpha is constructed from Pertex Quantum Air, a highly windproof and durable fabric that ensures warmth it is held in the lofted down. Additionally, the ripstop properties of Quantum fabric enhance the wear resistance of the jacket, whilst reducing the possibility of the down leaching through the material. To minimise the impact of unexpected showers, the jacket has been coated in a water-repellent finish to shed light rain.
A fully adjustable insulated hood can be rolled away in high wind conditions and has been designed to be worn with a climbing helmet. In order to reduce heat loss, an internal storm flap behind a YKK main zip reduces unwanted wind drafts, while an adjustable hem can be cinched down with a drawcord to lock in heat.
Other climbing-specific traits can be found all over the Axis Alpha. A zippered external chest pocket can be used to store route cards. Just like a traditional belay jacket, the Axis Alpha’s main zipper is two-way, enabling the belayer to still have access to the bridge of a climbing harness when belaying a lead.
Intended to be used in winter and at higher altitudes, the Axis Alpha will keep you warm when the temperature drops.
