The 2018 Rossignol Experience 77 Basalt is the ideal companion for intermediate skiers who want piste performance from a ski that can take varied terrain in its stride. The 77 Basalt is one of the narrowest skis in the Experience family, making it the preferred option for someone who spends the majority of their time on groomed slopes, but crave more width for light snowfall and slushy terrain.
The 77mm waist width allows you to roll smoothly from edge to edge with minimal effort, whilst still having enough width that you feel planted and stable at higher speeds. The narrower waist width lets you navigate mogul fields and tight pistes with ease, the auto turn rocker allows smooth and catch free turn initiation across all terrain. The wood core presents a predictable and lively flex and is reinforced by basalt fibre, to smooth out the ride over bumps and crud. Basalt is an extremely durable and user friendly material, it allows more elasticity than carbon whilst being stronger than fibre glass, so whilst not as powerful as carbon it is ideal for skiers wanting a smooth but not too demanding ride.
Unique to Rossignol skis is their patented air tip, which has a honeycomb effect in the tip in order to reduce the swing weight, which makes initiating turns effortless. The cap construction of the ski makes it feel very forgiving as well as being easy to engage.
As with a lot of Rossignol skis these are extremely easy to ski, they favour shorter turns but still feel stable when you pick up speed. Coming from an all mountain family they handle varied terrain well and are smooth and consistent on bumpier runs. We would recommend these to someone looking to purchase their first pair of skis, either a beginner or an intermediate who wants a ski that will help to improve their ability.
Autoturn Rocker - 30% Rocker, 70% Camber creates secure on piste grip and edge hold giving the feeling of power assisted turn initiation and impeccable float in soft snow
Cap - A capped construction encases the core, this increases durability. A slanted angle makes the skis easier to handle, and gives increased edge control
Basalt Fibre - Stronger and lighter than fibreglass with more elasticity than carbon
Poplar Wood Core - A lightweight but strong wood that produces an easy to use but stable ski.
Air Tip - This is a technology exclusive to Rossignol, the tip has a honeycomb construction, therefore most of it is filled with air. This focuses the weight in the centre of the ski which maximises control and power beneath the skiers feet
