The idea behind the Ribcap products came about in 1999, when skiers and snowboarders were being told more and more about the importance of protective head wear such as helmet and hard hats. Today the ribcap is at the height of technology giving you protective hearwear that is comfortable, unrestrictive, and designed by the best in the busienss. The 2006/07 collection was designed by Lisa Besset and Tom Wüthrich, who have won the Swiss Design Award 2006. The material that is used in the Ribcap is a material called Structure. Alot of similar items use a material called D30. The problem with D30 is that it is very heavy, which doesn't help in making it comfortable, whatsmore, it becomes even heavier once it gets wetter aswell. Don't be fooled, the Ribcap doesn't offer the same protection as a full on helmet, but it does offer you protection without being bulky, and unlike a helmet where you are meant to replace it once it has been dropped or damaged, with the Ribcap you dont have to.
