About the MSR Freelite 3 V3

The MSR (Mountain Safety Research) FreeLite 3 V3 tent returns with an updated design that's 255g lighter than the previous FreeLites making it ideal for fast-moving outdoor adventures.

The new FreeLite series features a weight-saving cutaway rainfly while vestibule doors use StayDry™ rain gutters to keep water from dripping onto you and your gear. The FreeLite retains its true rectangular floor (no foot taper like most other tents) with one meter of headroom - 10.2 cm more than before. A micromesh canopy delivers maximum ventilation, moisture control, and insect protection while a waterproof bathtub-style floor protects from the elements.

Two entrances and a vestibule on either side offer hassle-free access and room for stowing equipment. The doors feature new zippers that are more durable and easy to use with one hand that also zip closed to a single point so you always know where to open the door, even in the dark.

The FreeLite features a semi-freestanding design that is quick and easy to pitch in time-sensitive situations. DAC NFL poles are super strong yet keep the pack weight low. The rainfly uses an ultralight 15D ripstop nylon construction with DuraShield™ PU/silicone waterproof coating and taped seams to keep rainwater at bay. The versatile design means you can leave off the rainfly in good weather for a stargazer's view of the night sky.

Inside, new tech-friendly pockets feature cable ports for routing headphone and charging cords. Overhead gear loft pockets are perfect for headlamps and keeping smaller essentials within easy reach.

The FreeLite 3 V3 from MSR packs a low weight with a 3-season design that won't let you down when the weather does. A great 3-person camping shelter for all outdoor adventures, offering liveable comfort in the harshest of conditions.

Firstly I would not recommend Absolute Snow, I called to change the address on this package after a response to my email requesting an address change, on the same day as purchasing. They were extremely unhelpful and told me that there is nothing they can do, requested a call back from a manager, which never came... Thankfully Royal Mail assisted me with my concern promptly saving me running around for a £500 tent!!! On to the tent I have not tried this tent in the field but I will warn that it is a bit flimsy. If you can hold a little more weight then don't buy this tent. I need this as I am carrying all the kit for hikes with my two children and I need to get my pack weight below 20kg, if you don't have a similar issue I would go for the next tent up in the msr series. One of the tent peg straps (anchor points) holding to the fly came off, I have subsequently reinforced all of these by hand stiches which I hope will help with the strength. I will also be traveling with a needle and thread and a lot of tent repair tape! It looks like a nice tent and there is a good sleeping area. The vestibule is very small and would a struggle to cook out of the rain (I would however recommend keeping open flames a mile away from the flysheet with is about as thick as a cheap bin liner). I heavily suspect this tent is more designed for use without the fly and only using the fly if there is a sudden rain suprise. I think this is more of an American centered design, I feel British hikers/backpackers should be careful when buying American hiking gear for British weather! I hope this tent can last me until my children can carry a reasonable weight, again if you don't have a serious weight issue and the need for a 3 man tent, move on!
