Belay device with assisted braking, for a broad range of single rope diameters (8.5 to 11 mm), designed for the experienced belayer.

About the Petzl GriGri

Petzl present their latest update of the GRIGRI: designed to amalgamate the best aspects of both the GRIGRI 2 and the GRIGRI+, the new GRIGRI is your go-to assisted braking device - from after work gym sessions to weekend adventures at the crag.

An extremely versatile device, the GRIGRI works equally well for lead climbing and top roping, used all around the world in every discipline of climbing, this device will accompany you for many years!

The belay technique used is identical to classic belay systems, but the GRIGRI's assisted breaking capability and new design allows excellent control during the descent.

The assisted breaking capability means that if the climber falls, the belayer holds the free end of the rope and a cam pivots and pinches the rope inside the device, this increases the braking action until the rope stops sliding.

To descend using the GRIGRI, one hand holds the rope, and the other uses the handle to unlock the cam. The patented handle design allows a very gradual release of the rope.

The device is really easy to use, and a great belay device for all ages and abilities with accident-proof diagrams on how to thread the rope engraved on the device, all this and the device is still super light, at only 185g!

PLEASE NOTE THE BLUE GRIGRI 2 IS DARKER THAN PICTURED - CLOSER TO THIS BLUE
