About the 100Eight W
The 100Eight is part of Volkl's freeride all mountain range of skis featuring their unique 3D ridge technology for the most efficient power transmission and lightweight construction on the market.
At 108mm underfoot the 100Eight Pink provides a huge amount of floatation on soft snow, as well as gliding over crud and variable conditions thanks to the tip rocker. One of the first things you'll notice about the 100Eight is the strange 3D pattern built into the top sheet. This 3D Ridge design has been filtered down the range from Volkl's incredibly high end V-Werks skis. This tech mills out strategic areas of the skis topsheet to maintain a solid central platform with a lighter weight tip and tail section. This is a very effective construction on performance skis as it gives a precise flex pattern, less swing weight, increased float, reduced weight and very accurate power transmission. One of the best things about this is that it helps the ski perform far better on hardpack than you would expect from a 108mm ski, while still maximising floatation in powder.
The 100Eight gets a whole host of other top Volkl tech including a multi layer wood core which mixes Poplar and Beech to provide a solid and stable platform that grips and rides hard. A fibreglass wrap around this core helps increase torsional rigidity without adding further weight. A sidewall ensures precise edge to edge transfers as well. Women who need an uncompromising freeride and pow ski for getting first tracks, but might still lap some groomers in the afternoon, will love Volkl's 100Eight Pink ski.
